Hello, friend! How was your week? This was a short work one for me, as we enjoyed some time at the beginning of the week celebrating my husband’s birthday on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland! If you or a loved one is having a birthday, celebrating an achievement or just want cake this week - have an extra slice, you’ve earned it!
Fishbird Catch of the Week
We post twice a week (Wednesday & Saturday) on the Fishbird Central blog. This week’s catch included:
I managed to knock over 12 books this month! Setting a reading goal is certainly helping me power through my reading stack! No 5 star reads in the selection this month, but I did find a lot of 4 star books that were a hoot to read. Are you a mood reader or do you like setting your reading intentions for the month?
Charting a Course: Books With ‘Sea’ in the Title
Who doesn’t love the ocean?! It’s not always a beach day though, so to help scratch that seaside itch - why not take a kraken at this reading challenge! We suggest 10 books with ‘sea’ in the title, to help a range of ocean-faring readers sail into literary glory.
Dinosaurs I’ve Met
What are the things that make you childishly excited? Are there objects or scenarios that you encounter out in the wild, that light you up inside and prompt squeals of unabashed delight?
For me, it’s a fake dinosaur. Though I’d probably feel a similar level of excitement if I ever met a real dinosaur. We can only hope that a real Jurassic Park will be built soon. I have learned no lessons.
I will turn a car around, stop by the side of the road, pay an entry fee, wait in a line with children, go completely out of my way, and generally make things awkward - all in order to spend time with a dinosaur that someone took the time to create out of fibreglass and dreams.
Take the time to do things that make you happy. Even if it’s weird and not everyone understands why you’re talking to a false T-Rex.
Quick Fire Wrap Up
Currently Reading: ‘A is for Alibi’ by Sue Grafton (Amazon affiliate link). This is this first book in the Kinsey Millhone crime series - 25 books ahead of me if I like this one! Not sure I need to be starting another crime series while I’m in the middle of a hundred other ones - but I just couldn’t say no to this little trade paperback!
Currently Watching: ‘The Rookie’ on Netflix, staring Nathan Fillion - a light procedural cop drama that I’m enjoying. Nathan Fillion is great - have previously loved ‘Firefly’ & ‘Castle’. ‘For TV crime fans, The Rookie’ is worth checking out if you’re looking for a show to binge while you eat the rest of your birthday cake.
Currently Wondering: What’s the tipping point with influencers? I mean, if everyone changes careers to be an influencer and the pool to ‘be influenced’ keeps reducing - will the non-influencer eventually have more power to influence than the influencee?
Wishes for the Week
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, friend!
I bet you have a bunch of things on your to-do list for this coming week. I’m sure you’ll knock it out of the park like always - but remember to be kind to yourself and rest when you need it. Rest is a necessity and not a weakness.
Stay cool, punks.
