Hello, friend - hope you’ve had a good week!
I fell over in the mud and cut open my knee, alarmed some ducks, broke my washing machine and then broke the replacement machine the same day it was delivered. And yet - still a pretty good week!
There were quite a few laughs; I counted my lucky stars and thought a lot about vikings; ate a delicious Indian feast; got some positive feedback on my art from strangers; and - by falling on my face in the park - managed to divert some joggers from a similar muddy fate.
I was going to insert a pic of my sore knee and mud covered self but … I’ll be honest, it’s not the most flattering of pictures and when you think of me, I’d rather I wasn’t covered in brown sludge and duck debris.
On a sketchy note, as I’m firmly in my Jackson Lamb era - I drew our fave gassy spy in a laundromat. We’re practically soul sisters (not the farting part).
Fishbird Catch of the Week
We publish articles twice a week on the Fishbird Central website - every Wednesday and Saturday! This week’s included:
April TBR, 2025!
In this post we read and review 3 books - Above Suspicion by Lynda La Plante, Spook Street by Mick Herron, and Whose Body? by Dorothy Sayers. All feature investigations led by distinctive detectives, masters of their craft or coppers standing on the brink of greatness. Are you reading a cracking series at the moment? Clue us in, in the comments!

Drawing in March: Week 3, 2025!
We’ve drawn our our way to the end of March - woo hoo! This particular sketchy post features talking animals, identity confusion, time-travel marketing strategies, and one suspiciously dashing rodent. We weave a tale of loyalty, newsletters, and the importance of knowing who's really in charge. It’s budgies.

What Flavour Human Are You?
After a series of unfortunate events this week, I thought I’d better check with the internet to see if I’m a machine jinx or have been cursed by a wizard.
The obvious way to check this, is to take a free personality test from a new-to-me website. It’s what Einstein would have done if his wifi had been better.
Turns out my personality type is INFJ-T or an ‘Advocate’.
“As an INFJ (Advocate), you possess a unique combination of idealism and insight that sets you apart in today’s world. Your rich inner life is characterised by complex emotions, vivid imagination, and a deep well of empathy that allows you to connect with others on a profound level. You have an unwavering commitment to your principles and an intense desire to make a positive impact on the world around you.”
So no mention of ‘machine jinx’ which is a relief. I do tend to have ‘big feelings’ and my inner life is rich with nonsense so ... big props to the magical spider in the world-wide-web for knowing me so well.
If you’re looking to clone, befriend, work, talk or travel with me - the below stats might act as a bit of a cheat code. Let’s be honest though, it’s no secret that the way to my heart is with dinosaur-related, coffee-infused, nonsensical word-play.
This be me, according to spiders:
Try the free personality test out for yourselves and let me know what flavour of human you are! I bet it’s a good one, you remarkable minx.
Quick Fire Wrap Up
Currently Reading: ‘Red Queen’ by Juan Gomez-Jurado. The case is a macabre, ritualistic murder - but the murder is just the start. A high-ranking executive and daughter of one of the richest men in Spain is kidnapped. Behind them both is a hidden mastermind with even more sinister plans. The only person with a chance to see the connections, solve the crimes and successfully match wits with the killer before tragedy strikes again...is Antonia Scott.
Currently Watching: ‘The Bondsman’ on Prime. Resurrected bounty hunter Hub Halloran (Kevin Bacon) gets an unexpected second chance at life, love, and his nearly-forgotten musical career - only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.
Currently Singing Along To: ‘The Blues are Still Blue’ by Belle and Sebastian. “… I left my washing in the launderette. You can put some money on it, you can place a little bet, that when I see my washing - the black will be grey and the white will be grey, but the blues are still blue …”
Have any book, song or show recommendations? Let me know in the comments! :)
Wishes for the Week
You are practically perfect in every way. That Poppins woman told me so - and if you want to call that sweet woman a liar to her face, then no, ma’am. Not on my watch.
Celebrate your wins this week, friend. Give yourself a high-five for the smallest act of kindness or that tentative leap into the unknown.
Stepping out of the house each day, looking as good as you do, is basically a community service. Continue to give the people what they want & strut your stuff with pride.
Stay cool, punks.
