Hello, friend - hope you’ve had a good week!
We’ve had a run of long weekends in my corner of the galaxy - and if you share a similar point in space and time, I hope you’ve had the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate. You’ve earned it!
Don’t go too hard on the rejuvenating part though - you’re already turning heads, and there are only so many bluebirds and magical forest creatures that can follow you around before it starts to get weird and you’re not allowed into shops.
I’ve been full steam ahead with house hunting this week - except for a few days where the wheels fell off and I had to power down and consult my inner Jennologist to right the boat. Steam boats have wheels, right?
We’re mathing out body corporate fees and sleuthing sinking funds. Does everybody secretly have a solicitor on speed dial or an innate knowledge of legalese? How does ‘Jen Average’ know not to get fleeced?
Currently trying to make sense of contracts and conditions, which is making us a little crazy - but we’re offsetting this by figuring out if we can downsize our mountain of stuff into two backpacks, which is also really calming.
Renting is looking pretty sweet, right about now.
I’m sure it will all be fine, and there’s still Easter chocolate so … sugar!
Fishbird Catch of the Week
We publish articles twice a week on the Fishbird Central website - every Wednesday and Saturday! This week’s included:

In this post we choose our to-be-read stack of books for May 2025! Packed with Aussie and International crime fiction, supernatural intrigue, cosy romance and classic Sherlockian goodness - there’s sure to be some winners in this bunch! Draw in April - Week 3, 2025!
In this post we stumble across Professor Shelley Egglington's Eggery. Shelley has a range of well-priced alternate-dimension creatures on sale, that would look great in your living room! Choose your purchase with care however, as no returns will be accepted. Especially for Long-Neck Greg. Greg is the worst and is free to whatever home will have him.

A Card For Every Occasion
My brain is all-consumed with real estate prices at the moment, so I may forget to send you a card to celebrate your momentous occasion and or achievement. This is not because I don’t care - the opposite! Much care, much love, much card.
As such, I’ve pre-prepared a few for you that seem to suit every occasion.
What says “I Love You” more than a sweet potato? Nothing! Here’s two!
Have you been having a tough time lately? This too shall pass, much like a marmoset traversing the jungle canopy of life. We got this, bro.
Going somewhere - a trip or a sea-change? Hoo roo! Don’t forget your Vegemite! We miss you already!
Loving life, but recently enlightened that there are aliens amongst us? Never fear - the strewth is out there. Alf Strewth … I mean, Stewart. Flamin’ galah.
You’re welcome, Hallmark. Call me.
Quick Fire Wrap Up
Currently Reading: ‘Treasure & Dirt’ by Chris Hammer. In the desolate outback town of Finnigans Gap, an opal miner is found crucified and left to rot down his mine. Nothing about the miner's death is straightforward, not even who found the body. Sydney homicide detective Ivan Lucic is sent to investigate, assisted by inexperienced young investigator Nell Buchanan.
Currently Watching: The final Season 14 of Vera on ABC iVIEW. I cannot tell you how much I love Vera. It’s just the right amount, shut up about it. Barely started this, but already in withdrawals.
Currently Singing Along To: ‘It’s Not a Negative No’ by Andy Prieboy. “… Although it’s no, it’s no low blow - I tell ya bro, you’re just this close to yes, you know. And yet it’s no. This n-o is so without the woe. You scored again! Your nein’s a ten! Auf wiedersehen! Now off ya go! …” - our property search anthem!
Have any book, song or show recommendations? Let me know in the comments! :)
Wishes for the Week
You’re brilliant. I have no notes for you.
Like a reverse Medusa, you glide through life and have amazing hair. Anyone who meets you is enriched by your inner light. You should maybe charge for that.
Dream big, friend - there are wonders ahead.
Stay cool, punks.
